What’s your watchword?
I’d never heard of this Daniel fella from the late 1800’s, but I heard this quote in Ryan Holiday’s “Courage is Calling” and it’s worth the share.
And the brave “so then what?” follow up question that it demands.
(mine)
“Make no little plans. They have no magic to stir (wo)men’s blood and probably themselves will not be realized. Make big plans; aim high in hope and work, remembering that a noble, logical diagram once recorded will never die, but long after we are gone will be a living thing, asserting itself with ever-growing insistency. Remember that our (daughters) sons and (granddaughters) grandsons are going to do things that would stagger us. Let your watchword be order and your beacon beauty. Think big.” – Daniel Burnham, Chicago architect
Let brave, beautiful, big plans be your watchword.
